In October 2001 he was admitted to the Ophthalmology Clinic of the Klinikum Bielefeld (Academic Hospital of the University of Münster), whose director is the world-renowned Professor Prof. Dr. med. habil. R.O.W. Burk, who among other things is the inventor of the Heidelberg Retina Tomograph (HRT), the main tool for diagnosing Glaucoma worldwide.
Simultaneously with his training in ophthalmology, he completed his doctoral dissertation at the University of Heidelberg. In 2005 Dr. Evangelos Tsichlis received the title of specialty in Ophthalmology from the medical association of the city of Münster.
In December 2005 he took over the position of curator until November 2006 when he took on the permanent position of Chief Physician and Deputy Director of the Ophthalmology Clinic of the Klinikum Bielefeld. In February 2007 he was awarded the title of Doctor of the University of Heidelberg.
Dr. Evangelos Tsichlis has in his assets more than 6000 intraocular surgeries and more than 2500 Laser surgeries. It is noteworthy that most of the above surgeries took place exclusively in the Ophthalmology Clinics of German Universities, as well as that it is one of the few doctors in our country with a list of thousands of surgeries, certified by a University Clinic abroad.
